The honest picture in Rockingham is one of distance. It is far enough from the centre of Perth that a wheelchair accessible vehicle sent down here is committed to the round trip, and there are fewer of them working the southern corridor than the inner suburbs. That does not mean you cannot get one. It means booking ahead does more for you here than almost anywhere else in the metro, and we will always tell you honestly what we can do on a same-day request rather than leaving you hoping.
Rockingham General Hospital carries the local acute load, with an emergency department, surgical services and outpatient clinics. Plenty of appointments still route north to Fiona Stanley at Murdoch, which is about thirty minutes up the freeway. Both are regular runs for us, and both are trips where arriving a little early beats the alternative.
Away from health, the foreshore is genuinely one of the more accessible stretches of coast in Perth, with a flat path along the beach at Rockingham Beach Road and set-down close to the sand. It is a good day out for a wheelchair user, which is not something you can say about every beach in the metro.
